Shadecaller — The Last Giant Book Series
A new look at one of the darker creatures from The Last Giant.
The Shadecaller is not simply a creature of flesh and blood. It is something ancient and unnatural—a spectral being wrapped in black robes, with burning green eyes and hands wreathed in sickly arcane fire.
Where the Shadecaller walks, the air grows cold.
And it never walks alone.
The figures surrounding it are shades—souls torn from the living and trapped between worlds. Once taken, they become servants of the Shadecaller, emerging from mist and darkness to overwhelm its victims and drag them toward the creature that commands them.
In the story, the Shadecaller can drain strength, memory, courage, and eventually the soul itself. Every victim it claims adds another presence to the darkness following behind it.
This scene represents the moment when that horror becomes visible—the Shadecaller standing at the center of the forest, summoning the lost around it as the boundary between the living world and the realm of shadows begins to break apart.
I’m continuing to revisit and upgrade artwork from The Last Giant, pushing the environments and characters toward a more realistic, live-action cinematic look as I return to working on the books.
There are armies gathering in this world.
There are kingdoms preparing for war.
But some of the things awakening in the darkness are far older than either.
